Parish Councils and Committees

Catholic parishes today could not fulfill their mission in the Church, neighborhood and world without the valuable advice and assistance of parishioners, especially as they are organized into councils and committees.

The Southeast Rochester Catholic Community is comprised of Blessed Sacrament, Saint Boniface and Saint Mary’s  in the downtown and southeast areas of the city of Rochester. This parish is engaged in strategic pastoral planning involving reconfiguration of our parishes and ministry. This diocesan-wide process is prompted by changing demographics of parishes and the increasing shortage of priests.

Parish Council

The Pastoral Council of Blessed Sacrament, St. Boniface and St. Mary’s is a consultative body, advising the pastor about the parish mission.  With the pastor, the Council develops a common vision and purpose for the parish; provides recommendations for parish priorities, directions and policies through pastoral planning; and promotes communication, understanding and collaboration among parishioners and specific parish groups.  Thus the Pastoral Council seeks to build and strengthen the faith of the parishioners and extend the mission of Christ near and far.

Finance Council

Because Blessed Sacrament, Saint Boniface and Saint Mary’s are clustered and not officially consolidated, our finances–and parish finance councils–must remain separate at this time. The finance councils representing all three parishes, are consultative bodies, mandated by Church law to advise the pastor about the temporal goods of the parish. The Councils monitor the annual parish budget, analyze financial trends, advise about investments and capital improvements, and strategize about stewardship, fundraising and development.

Blessed Sacrament Buildings and Grounds Committee

The Buildings and Grounds Committee monitors the condition of the five buildings and campus of Blessed Sacrament Church, and makes recommendations to the pastor for repair, preventative maintenance and capital improvement.  The Committee meets at least quarterly, and more frequently as needed.

St. Mary’s Buildings and Grounds Committee

The Buildings and Grounds Committee monitors the condition of the two buildings and campus of St. Mary’s Church, and makes recommendations to the pastor for repair, preventative maintenance and capital improvement.  The Committee meets at least quarterly, and more frequently as needed.

Committees

Many committees assist in the work of the parish and its staff in various ministries. Visit the Ministries and Activities pages for information on the many ways you can become involved in parish activities or our ministries.
